Reasons Why Buying Used Tractor Implements Is Better

Buying farm tractor implements is a really expensive proposition for many farmers to tackle. Is it worth the improved productivity to lay out all that money up front to improve your yield? That decision is up to you. In these times you can not count on a low interest rate when having to take out a loan on new equipment and do you really want to have to put your land up against yet another loan? I didn't think you did. I do know that you want that new sickle bar disk harrow, But sometimes the best decision is to buy used farm tractor implements instead. Here are a few reasons why!

Reason (1): You will save money on tractor implements

If you chose to buy used tractor implements. For example a new heavy duty tractor box blade for about 700.00. you can find a used one for about 150.00 in just as good of shape if you do your due diligence in finding one. Another example would be if you were looking to buy a tractor post hole digger that attaches to the rear of the tractor one of those will run you about $1200.00 to $1500.00 where as if you bought a used one you might on a bad day spend $400.00.

Reason (2): Lets say that your farm tractor disc mower just broke some obscure part that John Deere no longer makes.

You could easily just screw it and just buy a new mower, but mowers are expensive. If you are thrifty like myself you could just buy the exact same model of tractor disc mower implement used and use it for disc mower parts to keep your mower cutter running forever.

Reason (3): You don't always have to have the best looking tractor implements in your county.

I would rather have used equipment and have it be a little beat up on the outside then brand new equipment and an empty back account. You can always find used equipment for sale somewhere. I personally would suggest buying it at auctions, but you can find implements in your local paper as well within continental USA!

Reason (4): Say you don't have a farm but you have a riding lawn mower also know to people in the suburbs as garden tractors or compact tractors.

You can also buy used tractor implements for your lawn mower as well. I'm not saying that you will be able to find drum mowers or disc harrows or anything of that nature. NO I'm sorry you cant turn you compact tractor into a pasture mower. Its simply not possible. If you are dealing with a compact tractor you should always buy used compact implements because you are not using these on a daily basis. How often have you used your tractor attachments and skid attachments in the last year. I'm sure you would use a snow blower attachment a lot more then a grader blade that you might use once a year.

I hope that I have proven to you that buying used tractor implements is a good option for anyone looking not only will it save you money in the long term but when it is time to retire your farm tractor you will have saved enough buying cheap tractor implements that you have enough money to buy a new tractor without taking out a loan.
